Thomas E. Vermeer, Ph.D., CPA

Thomas E. Vermeer, Ph.D., CPA is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the Merrick School of Business, University of Baltimore. He also holds a joint appointment as an Affiliate Assistant Professor in the School of Pharmacy, University of Maryland, where he teaches in the Doctor of Pharmacy program. Dr. Vermeer earned his Ph.D. and Master of Science degrees from the University of North Texas, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from George Mason University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, American Accounting Association, and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants. Dr. Vermeer has been teaching accounting and auditing for more than 12 years. Prior to entering academics, he was a supervisor for a public accounting firm. He supervised audits for numerous industries, reviewed financial statements, provided extensive management studies and litigation support services, and prepared income tax returns. Dr. Vermeer has published technical articles in the Journal of Healthcare Finance, The CPA Journal, and The Tax Adviser.
